Prayer & Devotion · Thirty-three days to Jesus through Mary
Totus Tuus
A renewal of baptismal belonging: all that we are, offered to Jesus Christ with his Mother. Twelve days of preparation, then three weeks of self-knowledge, knowledge of Mary and knowledge of Jesus.
An original, simplified companion based on True Devotion §§227–233, not a verbatim Montfort retreat or an official liturgical rite. The daily Gospel selections, reflections, actions and short prayers are editorial additions. Read Montfort’s fuller recommendations alongside this guide. The thirty-three days prepare for consecration on day thirty-four, often chosen for a Marian feast.

Day 1 of 33 · Freedom from the spirit of the world
Seek first the Kingdom
Scripture · Matthew 6:19–34
Notice what claims first place in your thoughts. Jesus invites you to seek the Father’s kingdom rather than live under the rule of anxious possession.
Renounce pride, self-centredness and habits opposed to Christ — not the goodness of creation or love of your neighbour. Make room for the Gospel through a small daily act of freedom.
Today’s act of love · Set aside one unnecessary distraction and give that time to prayer.
Come, Holy Spirit. Free my heart from vanity and fear. Teach me to desire what leads to Jesus. Amen.
Day thirty-four · The act of consecration
Prepare with confession and worthy reception of Holy Communion as your circumstances allow. If you cannot receive, speak with a priest and make a sincere prayer of desire. Read Montfort’s act in an approved prayer book if you wish to use his complete formula. The short original prayer below expresses the same Christ-centred intention without claiming to reproduce his text.
Lord Jesus Christ, eternal Wisdom, I renew my baptismal promises and give myself to you. I renounce sin and desire to follow your Gospel. With Mary, your Mother and mine, I offer you my body and soul, my prayer and work, my joys and sufferings. Receive all that I am and all that I have. Through her maternal intercession, keep me faithful to you and make my life a service of love. Amen.
Renew your offering briefly each day and, if helpful, annually with preparation. This is a free devotion, not an additional sacrament or a compulsory vow. If a day is missed, resume peacefully; ask a spiritual director for guidance rather than beginning again out of fear.
Consecration through Mary is ordered entirely to Jesus Christ. Mary is not another destination or a rival mediator: her maternal help deepens our baptismal belonging to her Son.
Leo grounds Christian dignity in the Incarnation: the Son truly took our nature and calls us to a life worthy of the grace we have received, rather than a return to slavery to sin.
